Classic Waves Boutique turns 3!
New Years means so much to us!
We were rolling up our sleeves up around this time 3 years ago with butterflies in our stomachs anticipating the opening of our little boutique called Classic Waves.
Uncertainty, hope, and a dream were the best ingredients to try something new.
3 people in my life: my parents + my husband helped me chase after a dream...and for that I am forever grateful. They gave me the courage to move forward during a time when the future was unknown.
For some strange reason I wasn't afraid. All I knew deep down is that I needed to try something different and that the right time was upon us...even in the middle of a pandemic.
Join us as we celebrate 2024 + our 3 year anniversary on Jan 5th!
Champagne reception starts from 4-6PM.
Surprise Monarch butterfly giveaway from @pulelehuacollective during our event.
SOME BUTTERFLY BACKGROUND:
Our family has been releasing butterflies almost every other day in December. A few months ago we were gifted a crown flower plant. My mom has been searching the leaves each morning collecting caterpillars to place in a large terrarium. It’s been magical watching them create their cocoon and then emerge.
Recently we discovered @pululehuacollective which was started by two fifth graders who shared a love of nature. They created a sustainable butterfly terrarium that lets you watch this mysterious and awe inspiring process! These kid-preneurs entered the American Savings Bank KeikiCo business plan competition and were selected as finalists in the People’s Choice category. We love this! They are restoring the Monarch population one butterfly at a time.
Experts report that 80% of the Monarch butterfly population has been lost over the past 20 years. In the wild, only 5% of the butterfly eggs turn into butterflies. In terrariums, 95% of caterpillars become butterflies! Once they take their flight into the “real” world they pollinate our flowers, lay more eggs, and live their best butterfly life!
One exciting thing you can do before they emerge is determine if they are a male or female butterfly. Male Monarch butterflies have thinner wing veins than females do. The males also have two distinct black spots on the lower (hind) wings.
We gifted one to each of these mini terrariums that fit in the palm of your hand to our team for the holidays and let them experience the entire process for themselves!
Friday, Jan 5th we will be giving a few lucky customers the chance to witness the magic for themselves! A few of these will be available for pre-sale for $25. Call the boutique at 808-379-0441 if you want to be placed on our short pre-sale list.
100% of the proceeds will go back to this dynamic friend duo. Thank you for supporting these emerging entrepreneurs!
Deep beneath Na Mokulua is a beautiful mystery. She is hidden in the sky and floating beneath the islands in Lanikai. Growing up in Kailua I would imagine a mermaid as the outline of these iconic islands. Here is the magical world of our Local Mermaid.
