Indigenous - Organic + Fair Trade Fashion
Indigenous - Organic and Fair Trade Fashion
Indigenous are passionate about creating a culture of caring through design. Their ethical fair-trade clothing minimizes exploitative labor, environmental damage, the use of hazardous chemicals, waste, and animal cruelty.
Why does ethical fashion matter?
It positively impacts the lives of artisans and communities through fair trade. Using 100% organic cotton, free-range alpaca, and eco-friendly Tencel, they explain, “every piece of clothing they make is kind to people and soft on the planet.”

Sustainability that Transcends the Seasons!
Quality > Quantity.
Indigenous shares about using natural fibers like organic cotton. They utilize free range alpaca that come from small scale ranchers in the Peruvian Highlands. And they use eco-friendly tencel from wood pulp and utilize low impact dyes that are safe for the planet.
Did you say Alpacas?!
Their head and ears look like little shaka signs!
All of this got me wondering if we actually have alpaca anywhere in Hawaii? I found out that Maui does!
There is a farm in Kula near Haleakala that boast about their beautiful alpacas. Apparently their wool is softer and warmer than sheep’s wool and they’ve been there for 15 years! Here’s an article I found from Hawai’i Magazine. Who knew? I’m obsessed!
You can follow Kula Cottontail Farm and see them for yourselves! Go straight to their website to check out their yarns or angora creations for sale.
Or if you prefer up close and personal, Maui Alpaca is offering Alpaca Paniolo Picnics where you can meet and greet alpacas.
Now back to Indigenous.
Their Purpose Is Simple:

Deep beneath Na Mokulua is a beautiful mystery. She is hidden in the sky and floating beneath the islands in Lanikai. Growing up in Kailua I would imagine a mermaid as the outline of these iconic islands. Here is the magical world of our Local Mermaid.
